Dniepropetrovsk National University (DNU)
UA1, was founded in 1918 and in 2003 it has
celebrated its 85th anniversary. Dnipropetrovsk National University today is a diversified educational
and research complex comprising 3 institutes (the Institute of Economics, the Institute of Physics and
Technology and the Institute of Preparatory and Post-Graduate Education), 18 faculties, Post-Graduate
School, External-Studies Department, Master’s Degree Courses, Doctoral Courses, 3 research
institutes, 108 departments with the total faculty of more than 1200 staff members including 140
Doctors of Sciences and Professors, about 600 Candidates of Sciences and Associate professors. More
than 14 thousand students are trained at DNU in 81 specialties. The targeted institution for the project
at DNU is the Institute of Economics. The Institute of Economics was created in 2002, March 29, on
the basis of the Faculty of Finance and Credit and the Faculty of Applied Economics. There are 10
departments in its structure teaching in such specialities as “Banking”, “Finance”, “Economic
Cybernetics”, “Economic Statistic”, “Accounting and Auditing”, “Economy of an Enterprise”, in a
Bachelor’s, a Specialist’s and a Master’s degree. Over 1 thousand full-time students and 51 foreign
students are being trained here at the moment. The Institute counts 127 staff members including, For

the period of 1994-1997 DNU won 5 TEMPUS-TACIS grants. In 2000 DNU has won “Megaproject”
as a part of the Renaissance Foundation program in 3 fields of science simultaneously (Economics,
Sociology and History). From 1994 till 1996 the Department of Economic Cybernetics was taking
part in TACIS EDUK 9301 project, which was directed to organize the retraining courses for exmilitary
personnel to start small and medium business.

Tavricheskiy National University (TNU)
UA2 is the successor of the first higher educational
establishment of the Crimea – Tavrical University which was created in 1918. Today Tavricheskiy
National University is a higher educational establishment of the IV accreditation level. There are 16
faculties at the University which provide training of students in 35 specialities. More than 12000
students from different parts of Ukraine, former Soviet Republic and from foreign countries study at
the University.

Ternopil State Economic University (TSEU)
UA3 is the leading Ukrainian economic university
and the biggest state higher educational establishment of university type in Western Ukraine. TSEU
was established in 1966. Then only 75 students were enrolled in two specialities “Finances and Credit”
and “Accounting”. Now the University numbers over 26000 students of various formats of study
and trains specialists in five fields of study and fifteen specialties. It provides theUkrainian national
economy with specialists in the prestigious professions in finance and banking, accounting and
auditing, economics and production management, international economic relations and management,
legal economic regulation, economic cybernetics, and automated systems of management. The
University has the highest (forth) level of accreditation with the right of autonomous management,
what allows to train not only Bachelors (4 years of study) and Specialists (5 years of study), but also
Masters (6 years at full-day time format of education and 7 years at part-time respectively). Its
faculties comprise 1019 trainers; TSEU’s academic faculty publishes 800 scientific works annually.
The University is constantly expanding its contacts (via students’ and teachers’ exchange) with the
leading higher educational establishments of Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Great Britain,
USA, Canada, France, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland and of other countries, and also takes the leading
positions in the research of integration of Ukraine into the European Union. The University actively
develops and implements international projects, in which the European Union, its programs Tacis and
Tempus, Renaissance Foundation, American Cooperation Council in Education, German, British,
French, Austrian, and Canadian governments are involved.

Kyiv International University (KIU)
UA4, was founded in 1994. Till 2002 its name was
International Institute of Linguistics and Law. Nowadays the following Institutes function at the
University: International Relations Institute, Journalism and TV Art Institute, Linguistics Institute, and
the Faculties: Sociology and Psychology Faculty, Faculty of Economics, Law Faculty, Political
Science Faculty. Specialists are trained according to three educational levels: Bachelor, Specialist,
Master, Today the academic staff of KIU includes about 300 persons. Nowadays KIU has nearly 4500
students. The international status of the University and its main aims are the basis of the program of
international and public relations of KIU. In the framework of the program different kinds of
international cooperation are carried out: creative contacts with embassies of different countries are
established, cooperation with international organizations, funds is conducted, foreign specialists are
involved into the educational process, the organization of training abroad in correspondent
organizations is carried out. The University participates in the three Tempus projects JEP_24244-2003,
JEP_24234-2003, SCM_ T060A05 – UKR.

On the side of European part of consortium we have the two leading Universities - the University
of Stuttgart and University of Rome “La Sapienza”. The existing Master Course of the Rome
University is the basis of development new CADM Master Course. The University of Stuttgart is wellknown
for its School of Information Technologies, and possesses a great experience in cooperation
with Eastern European countries.

EU1 that will be the contractor and grant holder of the project has
also extensive experiences in the sphere of Crisis analisis and decision making. The university uses

various approachs to support the teaching in higher education. This profound knowledge will be
brought into the consortium. The University of Stuttgart also has a broad experience in participating as
a contractor and grant holder in various Tempus JEPs.

The University of Rome “La Sapienza”
EU2, founded in 1303, student wise, is the biggest
University in Europe with its 150000 students, 4500 professors and 5000 administrative and secretarial
staff. The Eurosapienza Centre in European and International Studies of “La Sapienza” University,
founded in 1960 as European School, has today nine members of staff, 60 professors, enjoys
administrative autonomy, is linked to a Jean-Monnet European Centre of Excellence and has a
European Documentation Centre. EuroSapienza runs two Masters, other four post-graduate courses,
summer and winter schools. EuroSapienza has consolidated experience in dealing with international
relations and European studies: about 2500 graduates have been specialised in EU law and economics
and international relations since its foundation. The Director of EuroSapienza, also Director of the
Master SM-HA, has been National Promoter of the Socrates programme, chairman of La Sapienza’s
commission for European programmes, partner in a TEMPUS establishing a European Centre at the
Budapest University, Director of a TACIS in Uzbekistan, and Director of the European Institute of
Cyprus. He is presently European coordinator of an EC-US Programme and coordinator of a TEMPUS
SCM programme for the implementation of the Bologna process in Montenegro, and of two TEMPUS
SCM programmes for the training, for the implementation of the Bologna process, of the Directors of
the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Algeria.
To our mind the current composition of consortium is the most favourable in order to achieve the
objectives of the project.
